Dog kennels should be disinfected on a regular basis.
A kennel, a place in which a dog may be safely kept when it cannot be directly supervised, may be large enough to accommodate one family pet or sufficiently large to provide shelter for many dogs. Measures required to disinfect a one-dog kennel differ only in scale from those used to clean a kennel that houses several dogs. The tools and materials required to complete such a task are the same as those you would use for many other cleaning and disinfecting tasks.
Instructions
1. Remove the dog and all other objects, such as toys, bedding and bowls.
2. Launder all fabric materials and place hard objects in warm water with a disinfectant cleaner.
3. Scoop up any feces or other waste materials and rinse the entire dog kennel with very hot water.
4. Prepare a solution of 1 part bleach and 32 parts warm water.
5. Use rags and a mop to clean every surface inside the kennel with the bleach solution.
6. Scrub stains and particularly dirty surfaces with a stiff bristled brush.
7. Allow the cleaning solution to soak into the surfaces for several minutes to achieve the full potential of the disinfectant..
8. Rinse all areas of the dog kennel again with very hot water. Also, rinse off hard items that have been soaking in the disinfectant solution.
9. Dry the dog kennel and the hard items with large towels. Replace hard objects and bedding before putting the dog back inside the kennel.
