House Break A Bulldog Puppy

Bulldogs look tough, but really have calm and gentle demeanors.

Bulldogs---you may either love them or dislike them, but it is hard to be indifferent about them. If you are not a fan, those wrinkly faces can leave you with images of tough schoolyard bullies. But for those who truly admire the distinct looks and rugged individualism of this breed, nothing comes close to raising your very own bulldog puppy. Part of bringing up any dog is potty training, and bulldogs are harder than most to get used to it.

Instructions

1. Place newspapers around where your dog sleeps. Often, puppies and dogs will begin circling an area before they use the potty. When you see your puppy circling, pick him up and place him on the newspaper.

2. Praise your puppy profusely for using the newspaper. Offer it puppy treats.

3. Every day, move the newspaper a bit closer to the front door of the house. Praise and reward your puppy for eliminating on it. Alternately, if your puppy doesn't eliminate immediately upon circling, you can skip this step and simply take it outdoors---but quickly!

4. When the newspaper can't get any closer to the door and you notice your dog circling on it, put a collar and leash on the puppy and take it outside. Show it the appropriate place to eliminate. Praise and reward it for doing so. Pick up any feces with plastic baggies or a pooper-scooper. Repeat this step for at least two weeks.

5. Remove the newspaper from around the front door. Your puppy should now go to the door when he is ready eliminate.
