Kinds Of Chain Link Fence Gates

When you install a chain link fence around your property it more than likely will also require one or more gates. The chain link fence gates contain the same material as your fencing, and it is best to buy gates with the same gauge or thickness of the wire. Gates are available in several types, which are dependent on their use by the homeowner.

Features

Chain link fence gates are available in a variety of sizes and styles to suit your needs. The standard heights of all chain link gates are 36 inches, 42 inches, 48 inches, 60 inches and 72 inches. Gates are available for purchase in the original galvanized or vinyl-coated finish to match your fencing choice.

Walk-Through Gate

A walk-through gate is a narrow gate that allows a person to enter the fenced property. Depending on the size you choose, you may be able to drive a riding lawnmower through it also. Walk through gates are obtainable in standard widths of 36 inches, 42 inches and 48 inches.

Drive-Through Gate

This type of chain link fence gate is wide enough for your vehicle to enter your fenced property with ease. A drive-through gate consists of two panels that you install next to each other with the latching hardware facing each other. It is available at most home improvement centers in widths of 10 feet and 12 feet, which will allow a full-size car or truck to enter the gate easily.

Swing Gate

The swing gate is the most commonly used type of chain link fence gate. Its hardware enables you to open the gate by hand and swing it open into or away from the yards. The swing gate can be useful in any of the standard widths previously noted.

Sliding Gate

The sliding gate works with either an automatic gate opener, which operates from a keypad, or an automatic opener, which is activated from your car. This electric gate opener rides along a track on a wheel to slide open. The sliding gate takes less space to open as it does not swing in or out and is useful in tight spaces. It is also very convenient for a chain link fence gate that is at the street end of your driveway, enabling you to enter your property in inclement weather without leaving your vehicle.
