Keep a smile on every dog's face.
Dogs, like humans, have emotions. These four-legged creatures have the ability to feel joy, anger and sadness. Feelings of despair and anxiety arise if a dog is separated from its family and master--even for a matter of hours. There are several ways to comfort a dog that is feeling blue.
Instructions
1. Leave the dog in a quiet, passive way. Do not make a show when you are leaving the house--simply walk out the door.
2. Give the dog an article of clothing recently worn by its master or another member of the family. The scent will help soothe the dog and bring it to a peaceful place.
3. Offer the dog food. This will help give the dog something else to focus on.
4. Play with the dog. Take the dog for a long walk or play a game of fetch. This will burn off the dog's energy and help it sleep instead of looking for its master.
5. Give the dog a warm and inviting environment to relax in. If you leave the dog in a kennel, bring its favorite toy or a cozy blanket to help keep the dog relaxed.
6. Consider purchasing a friend for your dog. Your dog will feel less anxious or lonely in your absence if it has another dog to keep it company.
