Greyline pit bulls are known for their distinct blue and silver coloring and have become popular with many pit bull breeders. Like most bully breeds, Greyline pit bulls are strong, athletic animals who require a great deal of socialization and care. Although they are called pit bulls, Greylines are actually American Staffordshire Terriers. Caring for a Greyline, or any pit bull, requires a great deal of attention, love, training and education.
Instructions
1. Plan to devote at least one hour per day playing, running, walking and exercising with your Greyline. Pit bulls are high-energy, athletic animals and require exercise to spend pent up energy. Playing fetch, running around the block or taking a long walk with your dog will help keep him happy and healthy.
2. Enroll your Greyline in an obedience training course as early as possible. Pit bulls are extremely intelligent animals that respond well to instruction. They are also stubborn, and obedience training will help you keep your dog under control from an early age.
3. Always keep your pit bull on a leash when outdoors. Most cities have strict leash laws and frown upon pit bulls running free through neighborhoods. Allowing your dog to run freely exposes him to the risk of being hit by a car or otherwise injured.
4. Protect your pit bull from being kidnapped and placed in dog fighting rings by keeping your pet supervised whenever he is outside. Illegal dog fighting rings prefer to use pit bulls in their brutal blood sport. Even if your dog is gentle and would not fight another dog, he may be used as bait to train fighting dogs to be more aggressive.
5. Give your Greyline plenty of affection and love. Pit bulls are extremely social animals and, in spite of their bad reputation, are exceptionally people-friendly. Do not tie your pit bull for hours by himself outdoors or neglect his social needs.
6. Have your dog spayed or neutered. America's animal shelters are full of unwanted pit bull breeds, and most pit bull rescue organizations do not advocate breeding. Neutering male pit bulls can also help calm your dog's temperament.
