Alaska dog shows feature Siberian huskies and other breeds.
For dog breeders, owning a prize-winning dog is a personally and financially rewarding experience. In addition to awards, prize money and recognition, breeders benefit from the increased value of puppies descended from a champion bloodline. In most dog shows, variety groups include sporting, hound, working, terrier, toy, nonsporting, herding and miscellaneous. An overall winner from each group competes for the Best in Show award. For dog shows in Alaska, all fees, dates, prizes and judge lists are current as of spring 2010.
Alaska Kennel Club
The Alaska Kennel Club hosts shows throughout the year, usually in January, March and June. The shows are open to all breeds currently recognized by the American Kennel Club and feature a junior showmanship division. The events take place indoors at the William A. Egan Convention Center in Anchorage. Judges include Dana Cline, Robert Slay, Keke Kahn and William Bergum. The entry fee is $30. Prizes include cash, rosettes and embroidered dog beds and towels.

Tanana Valley Kennel Club
The Tanana Valley Kennel Club (TVKC) holds shows throughout the year at the Tanana Valley Fairgrounds in Fairbanks, Alaska. The TVKC shows are open to all breeds and include junior showmanship and obedience competitions. Obedience classifications are novice, graduate novice, open, graduate open, utility and nonregular prenovice. Show judges are Jon Cole, Denise Cornelssen, Diane Malenfant, Anella Cooper and John Connolly, and obedience judges are Alvin Eng and Larry Tanner. The entry fee for each show is $30.

Kenai Kennel Club
The Kenai Kennel Club holds an all-breed, outdoor event in the parking lot of Sky View High School in Soldotna, Alaska. The entry fee is $25, and there is a junior showmanship division. Judges are Sharon Krogh, Sherrie Bercklin Morgan, Jeffrey Pepper, Evie Sullivan and Carolyn Herbel.

Cook Inlet Kennel Club
The Cook Inlet Kennel Club competition includes junior showmanship and obedience divisions. The event takes place outdoors at the Alaska State Fairgrounds with a $27 entry fee. Judges are Don Rogers, Terry Stacy, James Frederiksen, James Noe, James White and Roger Pritchard. Judging the obedience division is John Mett, and classifications are novice, beginner novice, graduate novice, open, graduate open, utility and versatility, as well as nonregular classifications of brace and veteran.

Breed-specific shows include the Rottweiler, among others.
Breed-specific shows occur in Alaska throughout the summer, starting in June. Shows in Chugiak, Alaska include the Shetland Sheepdog Club of Anchorage and the Alaska Herding Group Club. Shows in Anchorage include the German Shepherd Dog Club of Alaska, Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Alaska, Siberian Husky Club of Anchorage, Rottweiler Club and Midnight Sun Golden Retriever Club.
