The American Kettlebell Club is an association dedicated to the education and practice of training with kettlebells, the long-existing weights that have grown in popularity since the early 20th century.
Identification
Kettlebells are round ball-shaped weights that are often made from cast iron that have an handle attached. According to strength coach Mike Mahler, their shape allows them to be more maneuverable but also more difficult to control than traditional dumbbell or barbell weights, forcing the entire body to work to control them.
Head Coach
The head coach of the American Kettlebell Club is Valery Fedorenko, the only Honored Master of Sport for kettlebell lifting in the United States. He brought the first Russian kettlebell to the United States in 1999 and attends every coach certification.
Process
There are two primary steps to becoming certified by the American Kettlebell Club. First, you must attend a prerequisite training course. All these courses are taught by Fedorenko's master trainers. Certified master trainers can be found around the country by emailing the club. Once you have passed the training course, you will be able to take one of the coaching certification courses taught by Fedorenko.
