Cruise ships That Permit Pets

Cruises That Allow Pets

For many pet owners, their pets are family. Therefore, some pet owners would prefer to go on vacation if they can bring their pets and know someone will care for them. Many cruises might not offer kennel programs for pets to go on vacation with their families. In fact, most cruise lines only offer accommodations for service animals aboard their ships, if the animals also satisfy necessary requirements.

Cruises that Allow Pets

Cunard Line's Queen Mary 2 offers a "kennel program" for all crossings from New York to Southampton, England in either direction, according to Cunard Line. Disney, Carnival and other cruise lines only allow service animals aboard ships if all the proper shots, certifications and documents are presented. If you are bringing a service animal, contact your cruise line ahead of time to make certain you will meet all the requirements. Also contact U.S. Customs and Border Protection if you have any questions about the type of documentation needed for pets leaving and returning to the United States.

Requirements for Kennel Program

Reservations for Cunard's kennel program must be made during the time of booking. Space is limited, so passengers interested in taking advantage of this program should book early. Cunard has 12 spacious kennels aboard its cruise lines, according to Cunard Line. Because pets will be traveling internationally, they must satisfy all shot and documentation requirements.

Kennel Program Features

Cunard Cruise Line employs a full-time Kennel Master, who is in charge of caring for the pets, including feeding and walking, according to Cunard Line. Dogs and cats can participate in the program, according to Cunard Line. Passengers with pets in the program can spend time with them during the day in the kennel and the adjacent indoor and outdoor walking areas, according to Cunard Line. This feature allows pets and their owners to spend time together much like they would at home. Participating pets also receive a complimentary gift pack and other amenities.
