If you have an outdoor pet, you most likely have some kind of enclosed environment for them to run around and play in. While this is the case for most people and pets, some owners have additional kennel space in their yard or garage where their dog can rest and relax during hot afternoons. Instead of letting your pets lay in the grass, many animal owners invest in kennel flooring to keep their animals dry, clean and safe.
Blankets
Odds are you already have a bunch of blankets stored away somewhere that you never use. Consider using them for flooring inside the kennel cages themselves. Not only are they easy to remove, clean and replace, but they give your animals extra comfort and warmth when they're laying down at the end of the day.
Newspaper
Some kennels use newspaper scraps to line their floors so that any animal accidents are quickly soaked up. Newspaper has the advantage of being quick and easy to clean up and can be quickly replaced by simply laying down more newspaper. Most kennels only cover the parts of the floor in and around the animal cages.
Carpet
Perhaps you have carpet left over from a recent remodeling job inside the home, or you have a spare roll in your shed or garage. Put it to good use out in the yard to give your pets someplace comfortable and dry to lay in the early mornings.
