Develop A Dog Kennel For Breeding

If you plan on breeding your dogs in a kennel, there are a few important considerations. The kennel must be large enough to house two dogs so that they have room to exercise. At the same time, it shouldn't be so big that the dogs will always keep their distance from each other. The kennel should be comfortable and provide shelter from the sun, wind and rain. A breeding kennel should also have an area that is blocked off and kept dark, as some dogs prefer privacy during breeding.

Instructions

1. Measure out the area where you want to build the kennel. Make a string perimeter of the area that you have measured for your reference.

2. Pound a fence post into each corner of the string perimeter. Remove the string.

3. Place a chain link panel between the two posts. Use wires to secure the panel to the posts by looping it through the chain link and around the post in several places. Repeat this until you have three sides.

4. Take the chain link gate and use it to complete the fourth side. Secure the gate with wires only at the top and bottom of the post on the side without the latch. This allows the gate to open and close.

5. Use chain link fencing to cover the top of the kennel. Use more wire to secure the top to the sides. Make sure that the chain link is stretched tight over the top.

6. Cut five pieces of plywood large enough to cover approximately a fourth of the kennel. Make the pieces approximately 3 inches shorter than the height of the kennel.

7. Place a piece of plywood on the back inside wall of the kennel. Place another piece on each side and nail them together. You should now have a three-sided box.

8. Nail another piece of plywood to the top of the box.

9. Take the fifth piece of plywood and cut an opening in it that is large enough for your dog to fit through. Nail the fifth piece to form the front of the box. You now have a private, sheltered area inside the kennel for your dogs.

10. Go inside the kennel with your wire cutters and check for any sharp wires that could injure your dog. Trim any dangerous spots.
