Setup Dog Dog houses

Set Up Dog Kennels

Owning your own dog kennels can add to your income. People will pay to board dogs on your property in a safe and clean environment. You may also want a safe place for your own dogs when you are unable to supervise them, and a multiple-dog kennel is a great alternative to open land or dog crates kept in the house.

Instructions

1. Choose an area on your property that will accommodate the size of your kennels. Make sure the area is level and doesn't flood on rainy days. If you have an area of property that is well shaded and has some natural protection from the weather, it would be beneficial to locate the kennels in that area.

2. Assemble the kennels according to the manufacturer's instructions, and place them in the area that you have chosen. If you are building your own kennels, be sure that there is enough area in them for your dogs to get exercise. For multiple kennels, a good size would be 10 feet long by five feet wide by six feet tall.

3. Lay the foundation. Although plain grass for the floor of your kennels is a great choice, using mesh wire fencing also works well. Using the fencing as a foundation will keep your dogs from digging and trying to escape.

4. Spread cedar mulch on top of the wire fencing foundation. Cedar mulch makes for easy clean-up in the kennel and keeps the insect and weed populations under control.

5. Install the dog houses into the kennels. Placing the houses in a back corner with the opening facing away from the north will help protect the dogs during the winter months.

6. Place bedding in the dog house. This is not a necessity, but it will keep the dogs much more comfortable and is a nice touch.

7. Attach the water buckets to the front walls of the kennels using the double-ended snap hooks attached to the bucket handles. The hooks will keep the dogs from dumping the water buckets and will make it easier to remove them for cleaning. Placing the buckets on the front walls of the kennels will also make it more convenient for you to give the dogs water.

8. Put a food bowl in each kennel, and your project is complete.
