A field trial is but one of the contests.
Sporting dogs are a group of American Kennel Club-recognized breeds that includes varieties of pointers, retrievers, setters and spaniels. The breeds can also be referred to as hunting dogs, bird dogs, and gun dogs. These dogs tend to be agile in the water as well as on land and may participate in a variety of events including conformation, agility, and hunting and field trials.
