Energy Pet Door Installation Instructions

With a Power Pet door, your pooch can walk itself.

A pet door eliminates the chore of opening and closing doors to let your pet in or out. Power Pet doors are the state of the art in pet egress, with easy installation and pet-activated operation. You can control the Power Pet door's action to provide two-way passage, entry only or exit only, as well as fully locked security. You can install the door in less than a hour. Then your pet will be free to come and go as it wants.

Instructions

1. Determine the height of the door or wall hole for the pet door. Measure your pet's height from the floor to its chest between the front legs. The manufacturer recommends positioning the bottom edge of the Power Pet door opening at this level.

2. Locate the wall studs, if applicable, and mark the inside edges of the studs at the desired pet door location.

3. Mark the dimensions of the Power Pet door hole on the wall or door, with the bottom line of the opening at the height determined in Step 1 and centered on the door or between the wall studs. The door opening dimensions are 8 7/8-inches wide by 11 1/4-inches tall for the PX-1 model (small pet) and 12 7/8-inches wide and 17 1/4-inches tall for the PX-2 model (large pet). Use a framing square or straight edge to connect the dimension marks for the opening cut lines.

4. Drill a 1/4-inch hole at each of the four corners of the door layout using an electric drill.

5. Cut the door hole out using a jigsaw. For wall installations, cut the interior drywall using a utility knife or drywall saw, then extend the corner points of the opening layout to the exterior wall surface using a torpedo level. Drill the four corners of the opening layout through the exterior wall and cut the exterior opening using a jigsaw from the outside.

6. Install the interior Power Pet door assembly. Position the assembly against the interior wall or door surface, with the inner frame inserted into the door opening cut in Step 5. Secure the assembly to the wall or door using the screws provided.

7. Access the exterior side of the pet door opening and install the outer frame. For door installations, the frame fits over the opening with the flange inserted into the hole. For wall installations, install the wall "tunnel" adapter first, then install the outer frame over it. Secure the outer frame to the door or wall with the screws provided.

8. Snap the plastic screw covers into place over all of the interior and exterior screws by pressing down on them with your thumb.

9. Insert the rechargeable battery into the compartment in the interior control panel and set the door operation switch to the desired setting.

10. Fasten the Power Pet transmitter collar on your pet and adjust as necessary for the desired fit. When the pet is directly in front of the door, the Power Pet door will operate according to the door control setting. You can adjust the range control dials as needed for interior and exterior response ranges.
