If your pet is young, it may have an accident during potty training and stain its white fur with urine. Your pet may also come home with urine stains after a stay at a pet kennel. If the urine is not washed out of white fur shorty after the accident, urine will stain the fur. If ordinary washing does not remove the stain, try these tips to get your pet's fur back to its true white.
Instructions
1. Use a pet grooming brush that is specially designed to remove your pets undercoat. If the urine has stained your pet's fur, one way to remove the stain is to remove as much of the hair as possible without cutting it. The FURminator is a brush that does an excellent job of removing undercoat from both cats and dogs, but any brush that can remove an undercoat will work. Brush your pet's urine stain until no loose hair is coming out in the brush.
2. Put your pet in a bathtub or an area where he can be washed. Completely soak the urine stained fur with warm water.
3. Wash your pet using a whitening shampoo. Unlike a regular pet shampoo, a whitening shampoo is designed to bring white fur back to its original shine and color. Put a drop of the shampoo on the stained fur and work it into a lather with your fingertips. Make sure the shampoo reaches the root of the fur. Consult your shampoo bottle to see if you should let the shampoo sit on the stain for a couple minutes. 4. Rinse the shampooed area with cool water. Make sure all the suds have been washed off, because extra soap left on the fur can irritate your pet's skin. If the yellow stain has not been completely removed, you can repeat step three.
Once the stain is removed, brush the fur with a regular brush so the fur does not tangle. You can let the fur air dry or use a hair dryer on low heat to speed the drying process.
