Bully Breed Dog Clubs In Minnesota

Bully Breed Dog Clubs in Minnesota

Bully breeds are not specifically defined by the American Kennel Club, but they are referred to by dog lovers and rescue groups. Several breeds of dogs are commonly referred to as bully breeds: the American Pit Bull Terrier and the American Staffordshire Terrier, the Miniature Bull Terrier and the Bull Terrier and the American Bulldog. However, breeds such as the rottweiler, Doberman pinscher, chow chow and boxer are also thought to be bully breeds by many in the dog world. Minnesota has bully breed dog clubs catered toward owners of the boxer, bulldog, rottweiler and Doberman pinscher.

Minnesota Boxer Club

The Minnesota Boxer Club has two shows each year: one affiliated with the Land O'Lakes Kennel Club and one affiliated with the Lake Minnetonka Kennel Club show. Additionally, the Minnesota Boxer Club offers members educational programs occasionally throughout the year in regards to breeding and health of the boxer breed. Meetings are held at different locations around the state and most recently have been held in St. Louis Park, MN. Membership to the Minnesota Boxer Club is offered in four types: individual; husband and wife each with a separate vote; associate individual; and associate husband and wife. Members must be at least 18 years old and own at least one registered boxer.

The Northstar Rottweiler Club has a motto on their website that says, "Punish the Deed Not the Breed," which is a common slogan for bully breed clubs in the United States. The Northstar Rottweiler Club was established in the 1980s when a group of rottweiler owners came together to share ideas and friendship as well as a love of the breed. The Northstar Rottweiler Club has a booth every year at the massive Pet Expo in downtown Minneapolis as well as meetings that are held each month. The website for the organization offers information and educational resources ranging from the rottweiler as a breed to training and health issues, as well as club information ranging from membership information to the code of ethics for the club.
