Develop A Dog Dog breeders Kennel

Breeding dogs can be a rewarding experience.

Having a kennel for breeding dogs ensures that the dogs will be in the same area when the female comes into season. The kennel will also eliminate the possibility of a different father, thereby keeping the desired end result of puppy. The kennel itself needs to be large enough for the dogs to comfortably move around in and not be too cramped. It is also a good idea to have screening on part of the kennel to give some privacy and a den-like feeling.

Instructions

1. Determine location for the kennel. The kennel can be set up outside if the weather is moderate enough; however, weather that is too cold or too hot will harm the dogs. Alternatively, the kennel can be set up inside another structure, such as a barn or garage. If the kennel is outside, be sure to use windscreen material as a roof for shade and protection from the elements. Inside, the roof is a matter of preference; although, if the dogs are high jumpers, it is a good idea.

2. Lay out fence sections on ground. Stand two long sections up and attach at a ninety degree angle with brackets. Use one bracket at the top and one at the bottom. Repeat this procedure for the other long section.

3. Attach the short fence section with brackets. Attach the gate section using hinges at the top and bottom instead of brackets. Make sure the gate swings freely. Make any adjustments necessary. Attach latch on gate. The horseshoe-shaped latch is the easiest to install and use.

4. Wrap the windscreen side cloth around part of the outside of the kennel, as well as over the top. The roof section does not have to cover the whole area, unless that is desired. The screen quickly attaches with zip ties. The idea here is to create a cozy space that will feel like a den to the dog. Dogs like dens because they them feel safe and relaxed. During breeding, it is important that the dogs are relaxed and happy for best results. This will also be important if this is where the puppies will be whelped, as well.

5. Place bedding, food and water bowls in the kennel. Now the dogs can be introduced to the kennel, and become familiar with the space. Adding favorite blankets or toys will also make the dogs more comfortable with their new surroundings.
