Find Shavers Edge Pitbulls For Adoption

Razors Edge
pit bulls are a short, muscular mixed breed.

Adopting any breed of dog is a big decision, and one that should never be taken lightly. This is the only member of your family you get to choose, so you must consider carefully both your lifestyle and the pet's needs. A Razors Edge pit bull may be selected for its loyalty or physical traits, but due to the stigma of the breed, owning one is illegal in many places. Doing your homework can make welcoming a pit bull into your home a rewarding experience.

Instructions

1. Inquire at local animal shelters, like the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), regarding available breeds. Pit bulls are one of the most commonly abandoned breeds in the United States, and at any time there may be thousands housed in shelters across the country. The SPCA specifically recommends using the online database known as "Pet Finder" to locate the nearest shelter. You can do so by visiting the website, clicking on the "Animal Shelters" tab, and then choosing "Animal Shelters by State" from the drop-down menu.

2. Contact a pit bull rescue organization, such as Pit Bull Rescue Central. This website is a virtual shelter and resource for owners and those considering the adoption of pit bull mixes, American Pit Bull Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, and American Staffordshire Terriers (the bloodline of the Razors Edge pit bull). This site keeps an updated listing of shelters and rescue organizations by state, and also features pit bulls that are up for adoption.

3. Check both newspaper and online classifieds for pit bull adoption notices. Pet Classifieds is a free online service that offers high-visibility advertising for those who are looking to sell or adopt dogs. A search can be performed by breed, with available pit bulls showcased from newest-to-oldest, and listings highlighted by state.

4. Check pit bull foster homes in your area for any dogs that are currently being fostered. Local shelters may be able to put you in touch with them. In this situation, you can set up a one-on-one meeting with the dog in a quiet home setting, rather than a noisy, crowded shelter. This way the animal is less anxious, and you can better assess its temperament and personality.
