Instructions
1. Use puppy pads in one designated area to housebreak your pit bull puppy. Puppy pads are odor absorbent and useful in training your dog indoors, and prevent stains and soaked-in odors.
2. Schedule your American pit bull's feeding times. Provide adequate high-protein dog food formulated for your pit bull's build, health and age. Scheduling feeding times rather than having food available at all times to help regulate digestion. It also makes it easier to housebreak your dog.
3. Train your pit bull to walk on a leash and harness as opposed to collar and leash. A harness hugs your dog's body instead of its neck. This gives you more control when training your pit bull, which is a potentially powerful dog.
4. Socialize your pit bull. This is an especially important for pit bulls, because it helps in prevent behavioral issues related to lack of socialization. A poorly socialized dog of any breed will not react well when introduced to new environments, people and pets. Take your pit bull for walks frequently at dog parks and public places to encourage socialization and appropriate behavior.
5. Give treats to your American pit bull as a form of positive reinforcement. Only give treats when the pit bull performs satisfactory in its training. Pit bulls naturally try to please their masters, so if they associate appropriate behavior with treats and praise, they are more apt to respond.
