If you want your dog to travel with you and you want to keep your dog happy, it is important to understand deal with a dog in a hotel room. Your entire family trip can be better–-and cheaper--if you can take your dog with you when you travel.
Instructions
1. Make sure you are staying in pet-friendly hotels. Some hotels will charge for pets, but some national chains, like Motel 6, will always let pets stay for free.
2. Pack for your dog accordingly. Your dog should have her own suitcase--with towels and blankets that she is familiar with, toys, treats, and her own food and water dish. It is always a good idea to pick up new treats for her before you leave, so she'll have something brand new and exciting when you get to the hotel.
3. When you unpack in the hotel room, unpack your dog as well. Right away, make her a bed on the floor with her towels and blankets, or put her kennel in a place that she can claim as her own. Set out her food and water dishes in a place where she can reach them. Also, make her a spot with toys and treats that is just her own spot.
4. Asses the behavior of your dog so you can know whether or not the dog needs to be kenneled while you leave or not. If your dog is very well behaved and does not bark or whine when you leave the room, you might try leaving her loose as long as you know she won't go to the bathroom on the floor or make a mess. If your dog needs to be kenneled, you'll know it.
5. Leave the TV on when you leave the room. This will give the dog some company and also muffle any noises the dog might make. If you are leaving the dog loose, give her plenty of treats and toys, as well as fresh food and water. If you are kenneling her, cover the kennel and turn off the lights.
