Service Dog Needs In Arizona

Service dog requirements protect both the animal and the disabled individual.

Arizona requirements regarding service dogs are designed to protect the animals that are servicing the disabled individual. There are laws to protect the animal and the individual, as well as requirements for the animal and individual. The coverage of requirements varies from state to state, and Arizona has a set of service dog requirements.

Definition of a Service Dog

A service dog in Arizona may be defined as any dog that has been trained to perform tasks for an individual with a disability. The service dog is required to assist individuals with disabilities such as being hearing impaired, vision impaired and otherwise mentally or physically disabled individuals.

Liability

The individual who uses and owns the service dog will be held liable for any damage done to any public place by that animal.

Discrimination

No public place that discriminates against pets may discriminate against service dogs. Service dog requirements in Arizona allow service dogs in all public areas. There are a few situations where service dogs may be discriminated against, which are if the animal poses a threat or burden to the area or public place in question.

Service Dogs Prohibited

Zoos may prohibit service dogs in Arizona. According to Arizona service dog laws and requirements, if a service dog may come into direct contact with another zoo animal, the zoo may prohibit service dogs from that zoo.

Regulatory Organizations

Requirements in regards to service dogs are regulated by three organizations: the Air Carrier Access Act or ACAA, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Fair Housing Act (FHA). These three entities regulate service dog requirements in the areas of air travel, public places and housing.
