Dog Shows In Ohio

Dog shows in Ohio are an excellent events to see pedigree dogs, watch dogs in agility courses and show off your own pooch. There are many different shows spread across Ohio, so you'll be able to enjoy show-quality dogs no matter where you live. The dog shows are organized by local dog or kennel clubs. Some shows are breed specific, while others have multiple areas of judging.


Central Ohio Kennel Club


The Central Ohio Kennel Club has a spring show in April and a fall show in November. There are three main areas of competition: all breed, obedience, and rally. The shows also have other events conducted by specialty clubs, such as the Golden Retriever Club of Columbus. Special attractions vary from event to event and are posted on the website. The entry fee to compete is $28, and show admission ranges between $2 and $12.

Buckeye Dachshund Club


The Buckeye Dachshund Club is a breed-specific dog club with a focus on obedience training and field trials. The club holds several events per year, such as the Annual Buckeye Invitational Field Trial and the Spring Field Trials. The Invitational Field Trial accepts dogs on an invitation-only basis. The Spring Field Trials charge a $20 entry fee per dog.

Gem City Obedience Club


The Gem City Obedience Club offers two different dog shows: the Gem City AKC Agility Trials and the Earthdog Tests. The AKC Agility Trials is an all-breed show in which dogs run complex agility courses. Entry fees are $23 for the first event, $12 for the second event in the same day and $10 for the third event. The Earthdog Tests are limited to terriers and dachshunds. Entry fees range from $10 to $18, depending on the dog show level and date of purchase. Earthdog Tests measure hunting and working training of small dog breeds. The Earth part of the name comes from the fact that the dogs go underground into animal dens to attempt to flush prey.
