Riverboat Discovery
On a three-hour tour that will not leave you stranded with Gilligan and Ginger, the Riverboat Discovery Cruise takes you through the heart of Alaska along the Chena and Tanana Rivers. Owned by a family who have used Alaskan rivers as a way of life for four generations, this Alaskan riverboat cruise will visit the home and kennels of the late Susan Butcher, a four-time winner of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. Mahay's Riverboat Services offers a river shuttle service and three Alaskan riverboat cruises: Wilderness Jetboat Adventure, Three Rivers Tour and Devil's Canyon Adventure. The Wilderness Jetboat Adventure is a two-hour Denali, Alaska, tour, that takes 51 passengers aboard "Talkeetna Queen," a technologically advanced river jetboat that can navigate portions of Alaskan rivers that were previously inaccessible to passenger boats. The trip includes a 1/4 mile nature walk to a Dena'ina Encampment, a visit to an authentic trapper's cabin and a guided tour of Alaskan river wildflowers and plant life. During the 10-mile river cruise, you could see bald eagles nesting, beavers building dams, moose or a black or grisly bear from the safety of the riverboat.
