The Siberian husky responds well to proper training.
Siberian huskies evolved in geographical areas that have wide-open territory, and they are genetically hard-wired to perform strenuous physical tasks and to have a strong prey drive. These factors can lead to undesirable behaviors such as wandering, destructive behavior and aggression toward small animals such as cats. An understanding of the breed and proper training techniques can help your Siberian husky become a well-behaved member of your household.

Socialization
1. Teach your Husky that you are the authority figure in the "pack." Do this with gentle leadership rather than harsh discipline. Predictable schedules, plenty of exercise and mental stimulation will help your Siberian be at its best.
2. Introduce your Siberian husky to your family and friends.
Introduce your Siberian Husky to a wide variety of people in a number of different settings. Take it for walks and jogs in public places, and bring it to social gatherings when appropriate.
3. Expose your Siberian husky to small animals such as cats and small dogs. Permit playing but do not tolerate any display of aggression. Praise and reward it for acceptable play. Remove it from the situation at the first sign of aggressive play.
House Training
4. Feed your Siberian husky at predictable times, and take it outside immediately. Remain with the dog until it urinates and has a bowel movement. Praise your pet and offer a treat every time it uses the proper location.
5. Teach your Husky puppy to eliminate outdoors.
Take your Husky outside first thing in the morning, before bedtime and after naps. While very young, the dog will need to relieve itself during the night. Give it an opportunity to urinate after drinking water or following play time or training sessions.
6. Remain alert for signs that your Husky needs a bathroom break. Sniffing the floor, whining, acting unusually "hyper" or a bulging anal sac signal that you should take the dog outside immediately.
7. Bring your puppy to the proper location if you catch it soiling the house. Avoid harsh scolding and punishment and never, under any circumstances, rub your Husky's face in the pile or puddle. Neutralize odors from accidents with an enzymatic spray.
8. Crate your Siberian husky overnight, when you must be away from the house and when you are unable to observe it. Never use the crate as a punishment. Make the crate your ally in house training, and the crate will become a place of safety and comfort for your Husky as well.
Manners
9. Regular training sessions strengthen the dog/owner bond and teach good behavior.
Teach your Siberian husky basic commands using praise and rewards. Give wholesome training treats and offer praise using a high-pitched, enthusiastic tone of voice.
10. Teach your Husky to come when called by using praise and wholesome treats.
Teach your Husky to come when called by positioning two or more family members around the yard, each with a supply of treats.Take turns calling your Husky, and give it praise and a treat when it obeys. Teach your Husky to follow off-leash by talking to it happily as you walk, occasionally dropping a tasty tidbit into its path.
11. A Husky will sit in order to look at your raised hand.
Teach your Husky to sit by taking advantage of her natural inclination to look up at your hand. Give the "Sit" command while raising your hand. Offer praise and a treat. Entice your Husky to lie down by holding a treat at ground level as you give the "Lie down" command. Reward the dog only when it is fully on the ground.
12. Leash training is especially important for Siberian huskies.
Use a no-pull harness to teach your Siberian husky proper leash etiquette. The harness allows the dog to move forward only when it walks without pulling. Use a firm "Wait!" to reinforce the action of the harness. Offer praise and treats when your Husky walks on the leash properly.
