2. Check to see if the landlord will allow dogs in the apartment you wish to lease. If you are looking on websites like Craigslist or Apartment Finder, each apartment listing will indicate what pets, if any, are allowed.
3. Bring your pit bull with you when meeting the landlord to show how well taken care of and behaved your pit bull is. Have your pit bull follow some basic commands, such as sit and stay, and let the landlord interact with the dog to become comfortable with having it in the building. Certain insurance policies do not cover pit bull attacks, so don't be surprised if the landlord is leery of leasing to you. This is not only because of the pit bull's reputation, but also because of prevalent legislation that places restrictions on pit bull ownership. With some luck, though, you can convince a landlord that your pit bull will not cause any problems or get loose. Explain the measures you will take to keep this from happening.
