Save A Chihuahua In Florida

It is easy to rescue a Chihuahua in Florida if you know what to do. Chihuahuas have a unique temperament--they are shy and might be prone to biting if not socialized properly. Because of these reasons, many of them are abandoned. With some work, you can train a Chihuahua to be a good pet.

Instructions

1. Make your home ready for your new Chihuahua. Make sure that you can have pets if you are a renter. Make sure your home is dog-proofed and that there is room for her to join you.

2. Contact local pounds and animal shelters first. Contact the ones that euthanize dogs first, because that way you'll have a better chance of rescuing a dog that might be killed if a home is not found.

3. Contact the Florida Humane Society in the town nearest you. Talk to them about your desires to rescue a Chihuahua. Be sure that they know your name and number so they can call you if one is found that needs a home. Also, be sure that you check with other nearby humane societies.

4. Find animal adoption centers near you. These might be offshoots of humane societies and they also might be found in pet supply stores like Petco and Petsmart. See if they have any Chihuahuas that need to be rescued.

5. Contact that AKC and UCK in Florida. Find out the current president of the Chihuahua Associations within the AKC and UKC associations. They will direct you to anyone knowing of Chihuahuas that need to be rescued.
