Replace Aqha Papers

Over time, important papers may be lost or destroyed due to accidents and use. If your horse's American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) registration papers have been damaged or destroyed, you can request either a set of replacement or duplicate papers. Replacement papers are less expensive and can be issued if you still have the damaged original papers. Duplicate papers will be required if you no longer have any of the horse's original paperwork.

Instructions

Replacement Papers

1. Locate any papers you have for the horse. If you still have the horse's registration papers, but they have been torn or damaged, you are eligible to receive a set of replacement papers.

2. Examine papers closely to make sure the horse's registered name or registration number are still legible. If there is no registered name or registration number, you will have to get duplicate papers. Write a note requesting a set of replacement papers from the AQHA. List the horse's registered name, registration number and your information.

3. Mail the note and the existing papers along with a $10 fee to AQHA and you will receive a new set of replacement papers for your horse.

Duplicate Papers

4. Print out and complete the AQHA affidavit for duplicate certificate in order to obtain a set of duplicate papers. You need duplicate papers if you do not have any evidence of the horse's original papers.

5. Take five photographs of your horse from all different angles. Renew your AQHA membership if it is not current.

6. Mail the AQHA Affidavit for Duplicate Certificate, the photographs and your $25 fee to AQHA and you will receive a new set of papers for your horse.
