The Triad area of North Carolina is a cruiser's paradise.
The Triad area of North Carolina was once a collection of small towns, fueled by agriculture and joined by a few highways. Cars and trucks were king, essential for transporting crops and getting people together for social functions.
Today, the Triad is the area of North Carolina surrounding Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem. With 1.6 million residents in 2000, it was one of the largest combined metropolitan areas of the Southeast. Its residents still pay homage, however, to cars with several area shows for customized, classic, hot rod and muscle cars.
The Triad Chevy Club's Annual Car Show
The Triad Chevy Club celebrated its 16th annual car show in August 2010, at the Greensboro County Park. It's open to all cars and trucks of any make and year. You will also find auto vendors and food for sale.
The vehicle entry fee is $20 on the day of the event, but admission is free to spectators, as of summer 2010. Judging starts at noon the day of the festival, with more than 100 trophies presented. Make an entry as well for a drawing for prizes and cash. The event is co-sponsored by the Triad Chevy Club, the Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department, and Goodguys Rod and Custom. The proceeds go to a charity or civic project.
